cashmere
Your sweater on my hook
In my bedroom, my loss
Dirty clothes in the bathroom
Looking at me
And your sweater, on my hook
In my bedroom, my love
Dirty clothes in the bathroom
Looking at me
And your sweater, on my hook
In my bedroom, my God
about Cashmere
This song is about contradictions. It is about how, when everything in life is going awry, how people have a tendency to hold on to the things they can control. In this song, my room is a mess, my house is a mess, my life and love is a mess, and yes, on my wall, on a hanger, is a sweater. It is the only order in the entire disordered existence. This song came out of my lived experience with ADHD. Messes are a recurring message in my work. Humans are a mess.
Dirty clothes
In the bathroom
Looking at me.
And the contradictions that come with such messmaking. Here, I am both paralyzed by the mess and amused by it. Understanding that Iām not able to get my life in order, but in return at least asking for complete disorder to at least get my bearings, and in the small, ordered existence of a sweater that is on a hook, exactly where it is meant to be, I am left speechless.
Your sweater.
On my hook.
My god.
